General Membership Meeting 14 Jan 2010 at 1530hrs
Meeting was called to order at 1535.

OPENING COMMENTS:
- SMSgt Bishop, our Chapter 984 President has left for his next assignment at Barksdale AFB, LA. MSgt Schwerdtfeger, our Vice President, will cover his duties until a new President is installed in February. SrA Desa, our Trustee/Airman’s Affairs Coordinator, has also left for her next position as administrative support for an AFROTC Unit in Wisconsin. We wish them the best of luck on their future endeavors.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SECRETARY’S REPORT – Open position
- Minutes for November were approved as written. There was no meeting in December due to weather and scheduling conflicts.
TREASURER’S REPORT – CMSgt (Ret) Parente
- Current balance is $2080.49. Thanksgiving Food Baskets ended up costing $3417 for 300 turkeys and 5# potatoes.
RECRUITING/RETENTION – CMSgt (Ret) Parente
- We had 2 Sky High members for 2009 (recruited over 100 members), Chief Parente and SrA Desa. Great job to both of you!
LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS – SSgt Tremmel (not present)
- No report.
AIRMAN ACTIVITY COUNCIL – A1C Brandon Casaletto (not present)
- No report.
EASTERN NEBRASKA VETERANS HOME – MSgt Curtis
- MSgt Schwerdtfeger readdressed the “Adopt a Vet” program at ENVH for residents with little or no family support systems. This is a continuous adoption to be the veteran’s “family” and visit frequently (monthly), send birthday/holiday cards, and provide simple shopping requests they cannot do on their own. Contact MSgt Schwerdtfeger for more info.
PUBLIC RELATIONS – SMSgt Becker
- SMSgt Becker is at the SNCO Academy and will return in February. He has done the last two newsletters; both were well done and showed new vitality for our Chapter.

- No report.
ONGOING BUSINESS:
- Cell Phones CMSgt (Ret) Parente
We have 81 phones ready to go, need 19 more for an even lot to ship out.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Thanksgiving Food Baskets: 300 baskets were assembled by an estimated 120 volunteers. Leftover non-perishable foods were divided between the 55 MXG for their annual Christmas Food Basket program and the Bellevue Food Pantry
- We contributed $30 to the Chocolate for Troops initiative for Division 89. Together, the Division sent $600 worth of chocolate to forward locations and is regarded as a success.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Elections will be held at the next monthly meeting. You must be an AFSA member in good standing to vote. See more at http://afsa984.org/
- Positions available are: President, Vice President, and 3 Trustee positions. The Secretary and 2 other Trustees may be appointed by the new President with Executive Council approval. If you wish to run for a position, please submit a letter of intent to MSgt Schwerdtfeger at schwerds@stratcom.mil . The letter is a memorandum stating the position you desire and the attributes that will make you successful in that position. We also need an AFSA Candidate Resume that is available online at www.afsahq.org
- Relay for Life is coming June 4-5, 2010 at Papillion-LaVista H.S. stadium. For info go to www.metroomaharelays.com or call the American Cancer Society 393-5801.
- AFCEA (Armed Forces Comm and Electronics Association) has taken the lead for a fireworks booth this year. They have invited our Chapter to partner with them for the 10-day coverage and share the profits. They have set aside 23 5-hour blocks for us to use, but the amount is flexible. More to follow.

Our Airman Activity Coordinator, A1C Brandon Casaletto, has resigned his position due to personal reasons. If you know of an eager E-1 to E-4 willing to make a difference with our leaders of tomorrow, let us know!
